Interlude III: Barter by Sara Teasdale

Barter

Life has loveliness to sell,
All beautiful and splendid things,
Blue waves whitened on a cliff,
Soaring fire that sways and sings,
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.

Life has loveliness to sell,
Music like a curve of gold,
Scent of pine trees in the rain,
Eyes that love you, arms that hold,
And for your spirit's still delight,
Holy thoughts that star the night.

Spend all you have for loveliness,
Buy it and never count the cost;
For one white singing hour of peace
Count many a year of strife well lost,
And for a breath of ecstasy
Give all you have been, or could be.
-----

Today's lesson plan:

1. Go outside (preferebly barefoot)
2. Breathe deeply and fully a few times, deep breaths until you feel yourself letting go
3. Turn into the breeze and close your eyes.
4. Repeat 2

If you still don't understand the poem. Well, I have no more advice. I'm sorry, you are doomed.

Friday music. I don't own an ipod {think pod people} (you would probably never be able to understand my loathing for Apple products, and I apologize to anyone I offend with this, but Apple products are the only tech products ever created that I did not like, and hell, I've been re-configureing tech stuff since the old commodore 64)

But....all my music is digitized and on my laptop, and has been for a lot longer than ipod existed.

Here's the mix I'm listening to now (I don't randomize, except across songs I have already associated with each other, to much music of drastically different types and the disonance would be overwhelming, I'm not quite into listening to Mozart followed by Led Zepplin-although, on the other hand-you never know, that might be a good match)

Wide Open Spaces-Dixie Chicks
Righteous Love-Joan Osborne
Walkin'-kd Lang
How Am I Different-Aimee Mann
Tipitina-Professor Longhair
Thing Called Love-Johnny Cash
Blue Bayou-kd with Roy Orbison
The Last Thing on My Mind-Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner
Cold Cold Heart-Norah Jones
Mighty Tight Woman-Bonnie Rait

No that was a silly exercise. Ho Hum. ;)
