She pt II
She pt. II
At least it's not far this time...she thinks as she begins to regain some control
Walking into the wet breeze, wind whipping off of the lake cuts right into her, trying to hide in her coat...she tries to steer herself to the nearest train stop, but she can't, it's forcing her to walk...forcing her to come up to the exact place she saw...just below and to the west of the elevated tracks...
at least that means she will be out of the way and in the dark.
Trying to put the clues into order, trying to understand this thing that happens to her, there must be some reason she can't take the train...it's only one stop, well...it would put her on the other platform from what she saw in the shadows...so it must mean something that she has to approach from the street.
she hates this neighborhood
She lives right on the edge, just a little to the north, as she is headed now, the night seethes bottom dwellers with their nearly blank, yet smoldering stares...even the crack dealers, the owners in this circle of man made hell, travel by day. Weirdly enough, the only thing missing are the whores, but plenty of other pieces of flesh being corrupted here...that's only a small omission.
As she draws closer, the dread begins to well up, she feels it press on her chest, forcing her breath, she can almost taste her own fear....She is already halfway there, and until now, managed to suppress her expectations of what she will see. All she can do at this point is to keep her head down, and let the imperative move her, it's taking everything she has to keep walking without stumbling and swaying like one of the fucked. She can't afford to have that kind of weakness showing here...
There...morse...cross and turn...she can see the tracks elevated above the street...lights shining...exactly like she has seen a million times...exactly like she saw a short while ago.
As she gets closer, she only sees one person on the platform....she thinks it's a woman in an overcoat...one block now....
half way down...just a few feet from the POV of the shadow show....
Another person on the platform steps into her view...a man in an overcoat...now it matches the scene she saw in the play between reality and the shadows...
a man in an overcoat...with some kind of hat....he suddenly heads towards the woman's back...
