The man is out to get you...

Great article in the NYT. Videos Challenge Accounts of Convention Unrest. (via Hit n' Run)

It starts by describing a case from the GOP convention in NY in which a cop perjures himself, and the DA has to drop the charges due to a private citizen video taping the arrest. (more proof that we all need video cameras at these types of things)

The officer, Matthew Wohl (remember that name, and wonder, is this what fascism looks like here?) testified "We picked him up and we carried him while he squirmed and screamed, I had one of his legs because he was kicking and refusing to walk on his own." The "he" in this case is Dennis Kyne.

The problem? What caused the DA to "abruptly" drop the charges? The NYT-"A videotape shot by a documentary filmmaker showed Mr. Kyne agitated but plainly walking under his own power down the library steps, contradicting the vivid account of Officer Wohl, who was nowhere to be seen in the pictures. Nor was the officer seen taking part in the arrests of four other people at the library against whom he signed complaints."

Hmmm...he wasn't even there. So why exactly is he testifying to made up events? I think we all know that, and I wonder how much more of this soviet style behavior are we going to take?

"Among them was Alexander Dunlop, who said he was arrested while going to pick up sushi.

Last week, he discovered that there were two versions of the same police tape: the one that was to be used as evidence in his trial had been edited at two spots, removing images that showed Mr. Dunlop behaving peacefully. When a volunteer film archivist found a more complete version of the tape and gave it to Mr. Dunlop's lawyer, prosecutors immediately dropped the charges and said that a technician had cut the material by mistake."

Hmmm...mistake...you mean like saying you were carrying someone when you weren't even touching them? You mean, maybe, like perjury is a mistake.

Of course the NYPD and DA has loads of excuses, they all sound like gradeschool excuses on par with "my dog ate my homework" or "aliens beamed false memories into my brain."

How much longer are we going to accept the fascist/soviet takeover of America?
